Alagappa University has recently established a Botanical garden and "Alagu Alumini Park" inside the University campus with wide collection of medicinal plants to promote the furtherance of learning and to glorify nature. University Alumni has formed the 'Azhagu Alumini Association' and has contributed around Rs 50 lakhs for the establishment of 5 acres of Alagu Alumini Park with one Km long walk way outlining a four acre Mexican grass turf and one acre of Children's park with various playing accessories. Alagappa University actively encourages a great diversity of wildlife to the Garden. This makes the Garden a green oasis in the City that's great for spotting wildlife from dragonflies to peacock.
Seeking to popularize the efficacy of medicinal plants in treating diseases and encourage farmers to grow the high value beneficial plants, Alagappa University has established a Botanical Garden in the University campus. This Botanical Garden is sprawled across an area about 5 acres of medicinal plant garden with green house accommodating the most exquisite varieties of flora. Apart from having different sections for medicinal plants, rare plants and endangered plants, the garden also houses a section of fruit plants and trees. The Garden have around five hundred species of both exotic and indigenous, plants, herbs, shrubs, ferns and trees.
