Department of Mathematics
About the Department
Genesis

The Department of Mathematics was established on 9th May 1985, along with three other Departments, Tamil, Physics, and Commerce in Alagappa University and it offers M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. programmes imparting knowledge and expertise to the students to face the challenges of the ever-growing domain of Advanced Mathematics and make strides in it. So far, the faculty have published more than 370 research publications in globally reputed journals. The Department has conducted a great number of National and International conferences. Every year, the Department organizes State Level Mathematical Quiz competition for PG students which attracts students from across the state. To commemorate the birth anniversary of the mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan, the Department organizes National Mathematics Day on December 22nd every year. The Department library has a rich collection of 3140 text and reference books. The faculty have demonstrated their erudition in the fields such as Algebra, Analysis, Differential Equations, Stochastic Process, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Mathematics, Graph Theory and so on. In collaboration with foreign Universities, many of our faculty members have published research articles in reputed journals and obtained International awards for their research contributions. The establishment of the Ramanujan Centre for Higher Mathematics (RCHM) in 2006 has leveled up the research endeavors in Mathematics.
