Genesis of CDC

Alagappa University was brought into existence by a special Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in May 1985 with two constituent colleges and post graduate departments.

Alagappa University became affiliated by the Tamil Nadu Act 35 of 2002 with 21 Arts, Science and Commerce colleges and 3 institutes, situated in the most backward remote rural areas of Ramnad and Sivaganga districts of TamilNadu.( G.O.ms NO. 288 and 289, Higher Education (K2) Dept.dt.16.10.2002 and Govt.St NO.12323/K2/2003-1dt.02.06.2003

Vision
  1. Constructing efforts on attaining 2(f) and 12 (b) Status to colleges addressing norms prescribed and march towards NAAC accreditation.
  2. Developing synergism, relevance and quality in education through curricular and Co-curricular activities towards ensuring cutting edge knowledge to students.
  3. Consolidating efforts on academic enrichment and grants mobilising from UGC and other funding agencies for college development.

  3. Envisaging opportunities to avail building grants from developmental assistances from MLA and M.P
Stimulting Optimization And Integration Of Modern Methods In Teaching
  1. Orienting on use of teaching technology
  2. Providing quality education by streamlining and Co-ordinating institutional components
  3. Motivating students to use available library resources and other services
Nurturing Quality Related Research / Project Culture Among Colleges
  1. Motivation programmes to avail special schemes / grants from UGC exclusively meant for college development
  2. Initiating programmes on project formulations
  3. Orientation programmes on submitting research projects on Rural Development and extension activities come under PURA
  4. Inculcating practice of participating seminars at National / International level
  5. Encouraging research supervisors and researchers to apply for projects to various agencies
  6. Motivational programmes to publish more research papers in National / International conference
  7. Up gradation to Research Centre
