Office of the Controller of Examinations

The office of the Controller of Examinations is responsible for the conduct of scheduled examinations of all academic streams viz.,

  • University Departments
  • Affiliated Colleges
  • Distance Education.
  • Online Education.

End Semester Examinations are conducted every year in the months of April and November for the students of University Departments, Affiliated Colleges and Collaborative Programmes. End Semester Examinations are conducted every year in the months of May and December for the students of Distance Education and Online Education. The Schedule for the End Semester Examinations shall be published on the University website five weeks prior to the commencement of examinations and a detailed time-table shall be published three weeks prior to the commencement of examination with the details of examination centres. Examination Automation

The office of the Controller of Examinations has implemented total automation in the examination process of all the academic streams of University through its well established physical as well as ICT infrastructures. We are the pioneers in conducting the examinations through online, introducing on-screen and online evaluation processes among the Universities of the country.

Tamil Nadu Innovation and Initiatives of State Planning Commission, (TANII) Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned a sum of Rupees 4.5 Crore to the University to develop a novel method for digital evaluation and to implement the same in the end semester examinations of Alagappa University. Through this Innovative Project 150 number of high configuration computers, sophisticated duplex scanners, answer booklet batching machines, automatic answer booklet cutter machines, I.D. markers, automatic stapler maker, software for quality checking, Rack Servers with Xeon Processor with 24 T.B. capacity & 256 GB RAM, Network Attached Storage Servers with 24 T.B. capacities, 1 and 10 Giga bit managed network switches, projector and LED display boards, high resolution colour printers have been installed at TANII Digital Evaluation Centre of Alagappa University.

  • Setting up of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Infrastructure, Networking, Technical Manpower & Help Desk.
  • Adoption of e-Governance (online data collection for preparation of Students Galley for Examinations, online submission of exam application, online payment of exam fee, generation of e-Hall Ticket and preparation of session wise nominal roll) to operate with Paperless Communication and Cashless Transactions effectively.
  • Communication with Departments / Colleges / Institutes through dedicated online portals and institutional e-mails.
  • Pre-Exam Process (including preparation of session wise nominal roll based on data collected through online portal).
  • On-Exam Process (Sharing the question papers through online portal, collection of absentees statement on portal and bar-code enabled answer booklets).
  • Post-Exam Process (Disowning Student information from the answer script prior to the evaluation process, scanning of marks entered by the examiner and result processing).
  • Publication of Results and Post-Result Process (Re-valuation of answer script and photocopy of answer script, etc).
  • Issuance of Certificates.
  • Report Generation and Preservation of Data.

In addition to the existing ICT facilities (50 computers, 23 printers), 25 Computers, 10 laser printers, High-End servers, High-End scanners, High-End printers, line printers, UPS (10 KVA) units, 13 AC machines, Server Rack, Switch, LCD projector, CCTV set up, LAN set up (75 terminals), Tamilnadu Innovative Initiative (TANII) has awarded Rs. 5 Crores fund to the University to strengthen Automation in the Examination processes. With these ICT and Physical infrastructure facilities, Alagappa University has implemented total Automation in the examination processes of academic streams (University Departments, Affiliated Colleges, Distance Education, Online Education).
