Genesis
The Department of Politics and Public Administration intends to create ideal citizens with humane administrative skills. It is a newly established, full-fledged Department that came into existence in the year 2019 in order to provide teaching, research and extension activities in the discipline of Politics and Public Administration. As a discipline it studies and analyses the machinery and the procedure of government. It is the basis of government, the instrument of change in the society and plays a vital role in the life of the people and the nation as well. The success of the government is dependent on the ability of the personnel of Public Administration and every aspect of human life is within the range of Public Administration. The Department has been offering M.A. Public Administration Programme from the academic year 2019 onwards and Ph.D. Programme in Public Administration from the academic year 2021-2022. It intends to develop strong-willed graduates and researchers with great capabilities and skills to run efficient, effective and modern Public Administration.
Vision
- To prepare the next generation of public servants and leaders who will administer domestic and international governments, non-profit, environmental, and healthcare organizations with professional expertise.
- To play an active role in shaping public administration leadership that performs public services and in non-profit sectors at the local, state, national and international levels with emphasis on ethical management practices.
- To create an enabling environment for the development and management of human resources for efficient, effective, accountable, responsive, transparent and ethical governance.
- To provide students with quality education so as to prepare them for career in Public Service, Teaching Profession and Private Employment.
- To foster an ethical and enduring commitment to public service values by serving the public interest with accountability and transparency.
- To impart multi-disciplinary knowledge in order to develop leaders as change agents, for promoting good governance towards creating a just, humane and peaceful world.
- To institutionalize a system of continuous and constructive engagement with stakeholders to make the public services in India more efficient, effective, accountable and responsive.

Note:
- Physically Challenged candidates are exempted from the payment of Tuition fee and Special Fee.
- Only Tuition fee is exempted for SC/ST Candidates and all other fees to be remitted by them.
- Students belonging to Adi-Dravidar and Tribal Community and Adi-Dravidar students converted to Christianity are exempted from Tuition Fee as per Tamil Nadu Govt. Vide GO No.13724/SC&ST/2024-1, dated.09.02.2015.

In the Department, the Student Council plays a key role as the helm of all student activities within the campus. A placement cell is an essential part of any educational institution that helps students in finding job opportunities after graduation. It serves as a critical link between the academic world and the job market, ensuring that students have the best opportunities to secure jobs in their chosen fields after graduation. The Department intends to generate humanistic way of administrative thinking. Regularized sessions are often amalgamated with orientation of civil services and other group examination. Consequently this orientation makes a positive impact upon the students’ community to become efficient and effective public administration in modern public administrative system.
