Vision

Producing Elite Athletes of The Highest Caliber for Global Competition and Providing High-Quality Sports Education Through the promotion of sports and raising awareness of them throughout the university, the Sports Department hopes to bring about social transformation and foster inclusive growth and character development. It is centered on the whole physical, mental, and health development of university instructors, staff, and students. Two of the most important components of a community and a country are individual self-worth and self-assurance as well as the capacity to manage stress. For these reasons, the Department of Sports places a strong emphasis on spotting and developing athletic talent in universities and providing them with the chance to succeed in the South Zone, South West Zone, All India Inter University sports and terrains, as well as the international sports arena, by fostering a sports-centric environment.

To Establish the Best Possible Educational Environment for Students' Professional Growth In order to prepare them to teach sports, games, and sports sciences to others. This will enable them to Overcome Obstacles in Life and Succeed in Sports and Games in the Dynamic National and International Arena. A clear and useful mission is essential to achieving the department's intended goal in a practical way. The two things that go hand in hand the most and are essential to raising the bar on any athlete's performance are sports and infrastructure. The department places a strong emphasis on maintaining a practical approach to a well-defined objective, encouraging competitive sports, physical exercise, leading a healthy lifestyle, providing cutting-edge sports facilities, sports coaching and training, and organizing sports-related events. Additionally, the Department is dedicated to its goal of scouting every corner of the university including affiliated colleges for potential athletes in various sports. Additionally, our goal is to advance athletic performance in national and international contests while also raising health awareness and enhancing quality of life.

Objectives

To develop and upgrade with the excellent, appropriate sports infrastructure facilities like playing fields, gymnasium, Indoor supported with excellent quality of sports equipment.
To maintain the indoor and outdoor sports Infrastructure facilities in the University campus.
To search sports talent at the institutional level and to groom students to become better performers in national and international arena.
To promote student's participation in sports and create awareness about the benefits of physical education.
To spread the culture of sports among the students of MIT ADT University.
To provide systematic coaching programs by involving qualified & competent sports expertise to groom university teams & sports talent.
To project the potential talent of the university by organizing state, national, and international level tournaments.
To provide incentives and awards to sports persons to motivate students to participate in various sports events.
The Department of Physical Education and Sports caters to the sports needs of all the students on the university campus, including sportsmen and women from all affiliated colleges in the university area, i.e., Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram Districts.

Organizational Abilities

The Directorate of Physical Education and Sports has been conducting day-to day sports activities on the university campus, conducting intercollegiate tournaments for all the affiliated colleges, and selecting the university teams to participate in the All India Inter University Tournaments. The university also organizes the All India Inter University Tournaments entrusted to it by the AIU. So far, the university has conducted about 10 inter-university tournaments. Alagappa University has the credit and privilege of being the only university in the South Zone that has conducted the Inter University Cricket Tournament in a very short span, which is the biggest sports event of the Inter University events. Other major events like All India Ball Badminton, Kabaddi, Handball, Hockey, and Cricket were also conducted successfully by this university. The university has hosted several national championships on its campus for the different sports federations of the country.
The university also has the credit of conducting selection trials for the Indian university teams that participated in the World University Championships.
